Favorite Beauty Products of 2012

So 2012 has come to a close, and I thought I would share all the beauty favorites of mine over the past year! I have made some awesome discoveries that have become staples in my makeup bag, and I just can't seem to leave these products alone. Needless to say I love all these products and I think they are worth checking out! They range from very affordable to high end, but are all worth their weight in gold in my opinion : )

Face:

Lioele Beyond the Solution BB cream
where to buy? Amazon

This bb cream has changed my everyday makeup routine forever! I use to either use a tinted moisturize or a foundation mixed with moisturizer  before I met this product. I now haven't touched my tinted moisturizer in ages, not because I don't love it, just because I get 20 times the coverage with this bb cream even before concealer! And I feel that its not too greasy or cakey AT ALL. It lasts on my skin all day with a little powder (I've combo-oily skin), and the coverage is out of this world.
I was blown away by this product, because to me for everyday in the fall/winter it pretty much replaces foundation/tinted moisturizers all together, however if I'm tanner or darker like in the spring/summer I have an issue with the shade being to pale. The one big downside to this product is that it only comes in one shade that is a very fair neutral shade. Which really stinks because this product is so amazing I think they should have one for every skintone! But regardless if you are between very fair to medium fair skin, this Bb cream could just become your new love.

Maybeline Dream Lumi Touch 'Nude'
Where to buy? Amazon,  Drugstore,

This concealer has become my number one brow highlighting product. I highlight right underneath my brow arch to cover any eyebrow redness, or stray hairs and it works beautifully to accentuate my brow's arch! I also use this under my eyes and down the bridge of my nose to brighten up my undereyes and highlight my nose. This concealer blends so beautifully into my skin, and 'nude' is the perfect neutral shade, it is not pinky-toned at all it is more yellow based, and it covers purple undereye circles phenomenally! If you like more pinky toned concealers the shade 'Radiant' is more pink-based. The only precaution I would say about this product is that it is not well-suited for covering blemishes, I would suggest a more creamy concealer for blemishes. This concealer is also well-known as fantastic dupe for the YSL touche eclat, a fraction of the price with better coverage. I'm already on my second tube of this and I hope they never stop making it!

Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette
Where to buy? Amazon

This concealer palette is amazing for covering facial redness and blemishes. It lasts beautifully on the skin, and it comes with three differen't shades of concealer, one fair shade, one medium shade,  one green based shade, and a setting powder. The green-based shade is absolutely perfect for covering active breakouts, and acne scars. It cancels out redness perfectly. What I like to do is apply the green based shade on any spots of redness or breakouts on my face and blend it in, then I'll apply over that some neutral shade, fair or medium depending how tan I am. I had heard about this on youtube and I am so glad I believed the hype. I have hit pan already on the lightest shade and and will certainly be repurchasing when I run out!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder '004 Sandstorm'
Where to buy?  Drugstores

This powder has become very popular on youtube and the blogosphere, and I can totally se why! I have never been a huge fan of super matte finishes, so I hesitantly bought this to try it out because I saw my favorite beauty guru on youtube (Tanya Burr) rave about it. I could not be more pleased with it! It gives such a beautiful velvety finish to the skin, and it lasts really well on my skin (my skin is combo oily). I find with this powder I need touch ups after about 6 hours in winter, I have not tried it in the summer yet, but I deffinetly will be. '004 Sandstorm' is the shade I like to use, its light-medium color, perfect for if I fake tan or when I'm fair I use if sparingly with my bb cream and it isn't too dark at all. I don't find that the pigmentation is overly high, I would say its light coverage, but it is absolutely perfect to finish your foundation, bbcream, tinted moisturizer if you have normal to oily skin. I have hit pan on mine, and will be so bummed when I run out, It makes setting my makeup a pleasure! I also really love the subtle smell of this product, it kind of smells like roses to me, but if you are sensitive to smells thats one thing to keep in mind.

Nars Bronzer 'Laguna'
Where to buy? Sephora

I have used this bronzer for contouring none stop for the past year. I have it in a duo with Nars blush in Orgasm, and the blush looks untouched but my Laguna is nearly gone! I use it everyday to define my cheeks and sometimes allover to bronze op my face. It is a very buildable bronzer, so its light enough so you don't have to worry about it being too dark if you have fair skin. If you have medium to dark skin this bronzer may be too light, in that case nars makes a deeper bronzer in the shade 'Casino' which would work better. I am very pleased with this bronzer, it has subtle golden undertones that suit my olive undertone really nicely. It is a gorgeous bronzer that is now a staple in my makeup collection.

Victoria's Secret Baked Bronzer 'Glowing'
Where to buy? victoriassecret.com

This baked bronzer imparts such a beautiful bronze glow to the skin, it was basically my summer must have! It goes so well with a tan, It's my bronze godess in a compact : ) I find that dusting this on my decolltage in the summer time just gave such a beautiful bronzy glow. I have become a victorias secret makeup convert this year, for sure! I think they have some truly beautiful face products that are overlooked, this is one. Now I know some people hate any bronzer with shimmer so this may not be for everyone. But if you want a shortcut to a bronzy goddess glow this is your ticket, it is not glittery or chunky, it just gives a beautiful bronze glow.

Elf Studio Blush  'Twinkle Pink'
Where to Buy? Amazon

This has become my favorite everyday blush, I have tried three elf blushes and I was blown away by all of them! They are the most affordable dupe for Nars blushes I have ever encountered. They are Pigmented, smooth, and blendable. They are a little powdery, but for the price I could hardly complain. The color 'Twinkle Pink' is a dead ringer for 'Deep Throat' by nars. So If you have covetted nars blushes but don't want to dish out that much money, check these out.

Victoria's Secret Illuminating Powder 'Next to Nude'
Where to buy? Victoria's Secret Beauty Stores
This Highlighter has been my most reached for product of 2012. It is the most metallic and wet looking face highlighter I have ever used. I use it on my cheeks and under my brow bone for a gorgeous glimmer to the skin. It is very comparable to the Mac in Extra Dimension Skin finishes, but at a more affordable price. I absolutely fell in love with this highlighter the moment I swatched it. I used it so much through the summer to give that healthy-glowing-skin look. It is very pigmented so I use it sparingly in the day and more liberally at night. It looks amazing in photos, just like you have a dewy glisten to your cheeks. And it is not chunky or glittery at all! I think this has been my favorite find of 2012, because I feel like it is a unique, lesser-talked-about product, and it is a fantastic dupe for the much-love mac in extra dimension highlighters.

Mac Fix +
Where to buy?
maccosmetics.com

Mac fix+ is my holy grail beauty product of all time. It is the most versatile product, because it can make whatever makeup you're wearing on your face just look like skin, it taked away powdery-look, applied locally to the cheeks it gives a gorgeous dewy glow, mixed with eyeshadow or pigments it can make a more intense color, and if applied prior to foundation it can help your makeup blend into the skin super easily! This product is such a multi-tasker it just never leaves my makeup table, and my pro kit. I find that especially in the winter when skin is more dry, this is like the instant skin awakener. You can sprits this through out the day if you have very dry skin, or just in the morning to fix your makeup and take away any powdery look. My only precaution with this product is that it may be too much for oily skins, because it adds shine and if you're already oily that may not be your goal. But for combo-oily to dry skins it is amazing!

Eyes:

Too Faced Naked Eyes Palette
where to buy? Sephora.com   Toofaced.com  Amazon

This has become my new favorite neutral palette. It has very cool-toned eyeshadows that I find pop better on my brown eyes and olive toned skin, whereas gold and brown colors look beautiful on me but they kind of get more lost on me, I feel like the more cool grey tones of this palette make my brown eyes standout more that if I were wearing a bronzy gold color. My favorite combo from this palette is 'birthday suit' from lashes to browbone, 'Pillow talk' allover lid up to the crease , 'like a Virgin' through the crease, and stiletto along the  upper and lower lashline. Add some liner and mascara and you have a beautiful everyday neutral look.
This palette has a mixture of matte, satin, and shimmer finish shadows. There are 4 matte shades, 3 shimmer shades, and 2 satin shades. I love them all! When I travel this is all the eyeshadows I bring. It has gorgeous pigmentation, and lasting power, the only downside is the shadows tend to have fallout but I just tap of the excess of my brush anyways so it doesn't bother me. Gorgeous palette, certainly check it out if you love cool toned eyeshadows.

Kat Von D Tatoo Liner 'Trooper'
Where to buy?  sephora.com    Amazon

This liquid liner has become my best friend for doing all flicks. It is the most easy to use and accurate eye pen that I have encountered. I find felt tip liners to be very difficult to use and get a nice precise point, but with this one it has a pliable brush tip that is firm enough to stay stable yet flexible enough to draw easily, it makes doing a flick a sinck! I got a sample one of these in a liner sampler from sephora, and after a few months of using it I went out and bought the full size because there was no comparison. This liner makes doing a cat eye 100 times easier for me! I had been using a felt tip liquid liner from the drugstore, that had a overly stiff felt tip and runny liner. I would never go back after finding this product. It is pricey, but to me it's worth it because easy application liquid liner is very hard to find, I'm a so pleased I finally found it!

Urban Decay 24/7 Liner 'Perversion'
Where to buy? Sephora.com   Urbandecay.com

This is by far my favorite black eyeliner pencil, for my waterline. I like to use and set it with a black eyeshadow and it makes my liner last way longer on my eyes. I use to be obsessed with stila kajal liners, which I still am, but in terms of long lasting in the waterline the Urban Decay 24/7 liner 'Perversion' lasts longer for sure. It is a super duper pigmented deep dark black. I got mine with my Urban Decay Smoked Palette. It's a gorgeous eyeliner and I always reach for it if I want to darken my waterline. They have so many colors in their 24/7 Liner range I want to try out some more colors because the formula is amazing!

L'oreal Voluminous Mascara 'Carbon Black'
Where to buy?   drugstore  Amazon

My holy grail mascara to date. It is so affordable, and so good at giving me full, voluminous, jet black lashes. I always reach for this mascara, even if I'm trying out a new one I find that I always want to layer this one on top because It gets the volumizing job done fast and better than ever. I find that when these are brand new they can be a little gloopey, but I just wipe the tip of the brush off and use sparingly. Once they dry out a bit they start getting fabulous, it's a great layering mascara if you want to put a more lengthening and separating mascara first, then follow with this one. WOW! You will have big, gorgeous, glam lashes.

Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara
Where to buy? Sephora  Amazon

This year I discovered very recently just in december, the Benefit Bad Gal lash. I was blown away by how volumizing it was! It is the first mascara to come close to L'oreal Voluminous to me, and I only have a sample size of it and when it finishes I will hopefully be getting a full sized. This mascara is fabulous if you love uber-volumizing mascaras. It has a HUGE brush, suitable for fattening up your lashes. I find it works wonderful on my lashes, (I have medium length fairly naturally curled) it really makes them fuller and thicker. But if you have very sparse and short lashes this one may not be for you, it doesn't lengthen as much as it does fatten your lashes. I would suggest this for people who are looking for alot of volume, if you are looking for length I would suggest something like benefit 'they're real' or covergirl 'lashblast' mascaras. Bad Gal Lash is a close second to my L'oreal Voluminous, only because of the price tag. If this was $7.99 it would totally be another HG mascara for me! for me it's like a high end amped up version of L'oreal Voluminous, its gorgeous and amazing but quite pricey for mascara.

Anastasia Brow Wiz brunette
Where to buy? Sephora  Amazon

My Anastasia Brow Wiz in 'Brunette' has become my staple on-the-go brow product. It is so easy to use, it has the best shade selection, it has a very fine point for mimicking brow hairs, and it comes with a brow brush on one end, so you can fill in and blend with one product. I have been using this product non stop in 2012, it really has changed the way I think about my brows. I first saw Pixiwoo on youtube using them and I though they looked beautiful and natural. I am so glad I picked one up because it has become my brow saviour. It fills in any sparse areas I may have, and it accentuates my natural brow shape, making my whole face look more put together. Before I used this brow product I was never truly convinced of how big a difference brow pencils make. But after using this product, I'm a believer!

Lips:

Too Faced Perfect Lips Liner 'Perfect Nude'
Where to buy?   Sephora   Amazon

This is my holy grail nude lip pencil. It last well, its a perfect nude color, it mixes with so many differen't lipstick shades, and it applies super smoothly. No sharpening required as it is retractable, and it has a super comfortable rubber grip on the end for easy application. Love this lip liner, It is what I use if I wan't the perfect nude lip, I will fill my lips in with this and throw on a gloss, or for a more 90's look I will outline my lips in this and throw on a gloss. Either way its gorgeous and a real useful product to have, as you can use it with just about any lipstick color, if you apply this liner allover your lips prior to apply lipstick, it will help your lipstick last longer and because it's nude, it can help tone down any bright shades and make them more wearable.

Too Faced Glamor Gloss 'Sex Pot'
Where to buy?  Sephora   toofaced.com

(pic of me wearing Too faced Glamor Gloss 'Sex Pot' over sephora rouge shine lipstick 'love spell')
Oh my goodness, this year this lip gloss sky rocketed to my #1 lip product ever. I found myself reaching for it over and over and over. It is the most gorgeous pinky-purple gloss, that gives such a beautiful blue-based pinky lip, that I wear with literally everything. Whether I'm wearing a dark blue smokey eye, or a bronzy brown eyeshadow, I wear this lipgloss. It looks just as beautiful on its own as it does paired over a lipstick. I can't say enough good things about this gloss. It does have some plumping qualities to it, and it smells kind of fruity. I love everything about it, and am hoping to try some more of the Glamor Glosses form too faced. I have already gone through one tube of this, and I plan to repurchase this Lip gloss forever! I seriously want to wear this when I get married (I have no wedding plans, just a hypothetical future wedding ;p) I am the biggest fan of this lipgloss, I think it looks so differen't on the lips then it does in the tube so go out and try it out!

Skincare:
Soap&Glory Scrub your nose in it Face Scrub
Where to buy?  sephora.com  Amazon

This is a wonderfull refreshing face scrub. It has a minty scent, and it contains little micro beads that exfoliate the skin beautifully. I love the effect this scrub gives me, my skin always feels revitalized whenever I use it. But my favorite part about this product is that it's a 2 in 1! You can use it as a scrub ofcourse, just lather, scrub, and rinse, BUT you can also apply it leave on fro 5-10 minutes as a mask then wet fingertips, massage and rinse! I absolutely love using it as a mask. Especially if I have new blemish scars or black heads, I find that it purifies and exfoliates really well!

Soap&Glory Glow Job Daily Radiance moisture lotion
Where to buy?     Sephora.com    Amazon

This has quickly become my new favorite facial moisturizer. It contains micro bronzing beads that burst when you rub it into your skin and it gives a very natural sunkissed color to the face. It hydrates my skin without being too greasy and it warms up my uber pale skin in the winter. I love the smell of this moisturizer too, its very refreshing. I find it gives just enough color to make my skin look healthy but it is by no means like a facial tanner. If you are fair you will be able to see the effect of the bronzing beads, but if you are tan to dark they won't show up well. If you want a healthy looking complexion through winter this is a great moisturizer to try.

Origins Ginseng Eye cream
Where to buy?   Sephora.com   Amazon

Amazing eyecream if you have dark circles. It contains mica, which is essential little shimmer particle that reflect light, making your undereyes instantly look lifted and brighter. And the caffein   from coffee mixed with ginseng stimulates microcirculation of blood, to decongest the under-eye circles which appear blue because of congested blood cells. It is an amazing product for dark circles and puffy eyes. I absolutely recommend this first to anyone looking for an eyecream, it does so much more than moisturize, it instantly reduces the appearance of dark circles. Absolutely love this product.
